L A Feldstein My fascination with patterns stems from my love of numbers. While mathematics has been integral in my working career in finance, my other love is painting.

I see a photograph in terms of color, line and geometry. These qualities appeal to my sense of order and design. There are times when a single photograph and the resulting abstract painting leads to another path -- and another painting -- and sometimes a third or fourth version from the same photo.

When I paint, I start with the shapes and then add color. After that, and as I move along, I look for balance of shapes. color and flow. My work often changes from the original intent as I progress.
