Susanne's Garden of Color is an abstract watercolor of a colorful spring garden. It is a study of shapes and color. It is bright, vibrant and sunny. Reminds one of a summer day in a beautiful garden. Do you see a bird in the center? It is keeping care watch over the garden. This is also available in square format

I had recently finished this painting and gone to visit a much-loved art teacher who had recently retired. With me, I had four or five paintings. This one she particularly liked. Her name is Susanne and so I named it in her honor.

Haiku/
Daffodils have bloomed
Now the azaleas waken
Each in its own time

Tulips have faded
Purple vinca now sparkles
What color is next?

Each blooming in turn
Fuchsia azaleas
Are glowing bright now

They share the spotlight
Waiting as each one takes the stage

My fascination with patterns stems from my love of numbers. While mathematics has been integral in my working career in finance, my other love is painting. My subject matter is inspired by photographs taken by friends and family. I see a photograph in terms of color, line and geometry. These qualities appeal to my sense of order and design (my fascination with numbers translated into art). There are times when a single photograph and the resulting abstract painting leads to another path -- and another painting -- and sometimes a third or fourth version from the same photo.
